I gather the AFSM is at least not as serious as the AFEM, since it’s the non-combat version of the AFEM which ain’t really very serious either although I’m pretty sure I had orders for the AFEM for going to the Dominican Republic for Operation Power Pack back in 1965, baby sitting my helo on the presidential polo grounds, watching them exercise his beautiful Arabians, and sliding over to the Hotel Jaragua in the evenings for a cocktal, some live jazz, and often a hoor to bunk with me back in the chopper if she didn’t get lucky at the hotel.
Tough duty, it was.
Is the AFEM the one that looks like a Banana bunch?
Don’t think so, but it does have a lot of colors in the ribbon…eight, I think.
In fact, first time I saw it I thought it was the ETO ribbon from WW2 which it vaguely resembles.
That was by intention, a Banana Republic joke.
