A âbiological annihilationâ of wildlife in recent decades means a sixth mass extinction in Earthâs history is under way and is more severe than previously feared, according to research.
Scientists analysed both common and rare species and found billions of regional or local populations have been lost. They blame human overpopulation and overconsumption for the crisis and warn that it threatens the survival of human civilisation, with just a short window of time in which to act.
The study, published in the peer-reviewed journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, eschews the normally sober tone of scientific papers and calls the massive loss of wildlife a âbiological annihilationâ that represents a âfrightening assault on the foundations of human civilisationâ.
Been under way for decades, miss. Itâs a shame its first victims werenât greedy corporate types and denier Cons - how many would have been spared.
On the good side, the Ancient Aliens will engineer some new and interesting beasts to replace the old, or just pop out a few of the extinct to repopulate a la Noah;'s Ark.
Do we get to win, this time?
Unfortunately, the only groups that have walked the walk as well as talked the talk in regards to overpopulation have been Whites and Asians. If you donât deal with that problem in an honest manner then all is lost.
Luckily weâll be dead before most of it takes effect. So Iâm going to party like itâs 2099âŚ
Yeah, no kidding.
Gotta agree with you there.
