Quality of reporting

Part of an article in an area newpaper

Tim Trently, general manager of Service Electric Cablevision, which
serves the Hazleton area and Schuylkill County, said cable TV companies
could always offer faster Internet speeds than satellite TV services.
“We can offer from 5 to 100 (megabytes). The most a dial-up can
offer is 6 megs,” Trently said. “Even when we offered 1, 3 and 5 megs,
They (TV services) only offered 756 K (kilobytes). We’ve seen a steady,
definitive increase of people adding Internet to their cable.”
Trently said that DSL, which is Internet service offered by
satellite dish TV companies, can only offer dial-up access unless
fiber-optic service is available.

Obvious mis-truths - when I pointed them out to the newspaper and basically said in itself it is no big deal but makes the reader thing other things may be bullshit - not only did they not acknowledge my comments but did not even fix the bullshit

Way back in the day the reporter would have fact checked their stuff 100 times over

6 MB dialup - fucking DSL is Sat stuff now - wtf?
